Boeing Facility in South Carolina

 Boeing [NYSE: BA] celebrated the opening of its new Interiors Fabrication facility in North Charleston.
The Interiors Responsibility Center South Carolina team will manufacture 787 interior parts including stowbins, closets, partitions, class dividers, floor-mounted stowbins used by flight attendants, overhead rests for flight-crews and flight attendants, video control stations and attendant modules for Boeing South Carolina. 

Elected officials and representatives from community and business groups and local construction companies joined hundreds of Boeing employees to commemorate the opening. 

"As part of today's celebration we acknowledge and thank you all for welcoming us into the community, and showing us your support as we bring our facility online," said Lane Ballard, Boeing Interiors Responsibility Center South Carolina director. "We look forward to delivering our first set of interior components to Boeing South Carolina in 2012." 

Boeing's Site Services Group, BRPH and Pattillo Construction were recognized at the ceremony for completing the facility on schedule. Pattillo's crew worked more than 500,000 labor-hours without a lost-time accident.  

The 300,000 square foot (27,871 square meters) facility includes state-of-the-art manufacturing equipment, and employees will use the latest Lean processes and tools to efficiently produce interior components to match 787 production rates atBoeing South Carolina. 

Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony and Parade of Boats Start Holiday Magic in Historic Charleston

Holiday Magic festivities officially kick off Saturday, Dec. 3, at the 25th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, when Santa Claus and several special guests help Mayor Joseph P. Riley, Jr. light the official City of Charleston Tree, a 60-foot tree-of-lights in Marion Square. The winners of the Annual Tree Decorating Contest, featuring trees decorated by local youth and school art groups, will also be announced at the Tree Lighting Ceremony. Following the Tree Lighting Ceremony, the Parade of Boats will begin to light up the Charleston Harbor. 

Presented by the City of Charleston, Holiday Magic in Historic Charleston offers family-oriented activities and performances that capture the spirit of the season for everyone in the community. For the month of December, Marion Square will be beautifully lighted and decorated for the holidays, including the 60-foot Holiday Tree of Lights, a Chanukah Menorah and a Kwanzaa Kinari. Chase Rice, a jackman for Hendrick Motorsports is a contestant on Survivor, Nicaragua. The popular show is in its 21st season and is featuring celebrity contestants such as Jimmie Johnson, TV analyst and former Dallas Cowboy coach. Chase is the " Hot one" on Tribe La Flor. An accomplished college football player at the University of North Carolina, Chase also is a popular singer-song writer and has just released his first titled CD called "Friday Nights and Sunday Mornings," a collection of songs about college years, which he knows so much about.

Chase describes working on a race team as "pretty intense" as the cars come into the pits at 50 - 60 miles per hour.

In near record time, Kenya's Simon Ndirangu won the 2010 running of the Cooper River Bridge Run. Mesekerem Assefa, of Ethiopia won the women's division, Nikolay Kerimov, of Russia, won the men’s masters division. HISTORIC DAY FOR HENDRICK MOTORSPORTS

Sunday was a historic day for Hendrick Motorsports at Homestead-Miami Raceway. Jimmy Johnson won an unpecedented FOURTH Nascar Sprint Cup Championship in a row. In addition, Hendrick Motorsports took the top three spots in the Nascar Final Standings, another historic landmark. With the Championship going to Jimmy Johnson, Mark Martin finished second in the standings followed by Jeff Gordon. Mr. Hendrick was unable to be at the track for the historisc day due to a family medical emergency. The race was won by Denny Hamlin with Jimmy finishing fifth, Jeff Gordon was sisth and Mark Martin finished 12th.

Lucy Beckham, Principal of Wando High School, Honored as National High School Principal of the Year

Columbia, SC (AP) Wando High School Principal Lucy Beckham has been honored by the National Association of Secondary School Principals as the 2010 National High School Principal of the Year. The announcement was made Monday at the Mount Pleasant school.

Wando is the state's largest school with more than 3,200 students. Beckham has been principal since 1998 and helped oversee the move to a new, larger building in 2004.

The school has received "excellent" ratings since state report cards were first issued in 2001.

Beckham will be honored during a banquet next month in Washington.

PRELUDE TO THE DREAM RACE

Tony Stewart passed Kenny Wallace on lap 13 and went on to win the Prelude to the Dream race at Eldora Speedway Wednesday night in front of over 23000 fans. Clint Boyer was second followed by Kyle Busch, Ryan Newman and Matt Kenseth. Jimmie Johnson, driving the Hendrickcars.com car finished 10th.

The proceeds from the event went to support four military-themed charities: Wounded Warrior Project, Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, Operation Homefront, and Fisher House. These four charities all cater to severely injured military personnel or fallen heroes and their families.

This is the second year in a row that Stewart has won the race at his home track. There will be replays throughout the week and this weekend.

A sincere Thanks goes out to those who supported our Military families and those worthy charities.

2008 Jeep Patriot Gets Top Crash Test Rating from Auto Safety group
In mid-October, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety revised its crash test rating of the 2008 Jeep Patriot, upgrading the frontal crash test result to “Good,” the institute’s top rating. In addition to the top rating for frontal protection, the 2008 Jeep Patriot, equipped with available front torso airbags, also was rated “Good” for side impact protection and “Acceptable” for rear crash protection.
